Enjoying our new home
We made it to Unalaska. Thankfully the trip out here was uneventful as it could be with traveling with a 3 year old for 2 days on planes. We got to our new house and Dh's company had already had our boxes delivered and we were able to start unpacking. It is beautiful here. God's work is all around. I feel very blessed. The house is not quite finished yet. Still a bit of work to be done, but we are getting close. So for now, here are pics of the outside of our new home.We have been taking a break from packing to get A out of the house and enjoy the beautiful weather the last few days have offered. We headed out to summers bay and walked on the beach. The wind was really blowing through the mountains. We could barely stand up LOL. But we still had a good time.
We also have started preparing for winter. It will be here in Alaska before we know it. The salmonberries are ripe and ready for picking and we have gone out the last 2 days to harvest them. I put as ton up in the freezer and attempted to can for the first time tonight. I will let you know how that goes. LOL. A is in love with berry picking! She is asking to go again tomorrow.
The first blueberries of the season are out too! They were just a little tart. I can't wait till they are ready for picking. The island is full of food! I am trying to put up enough to last us all winter.
As I said in my previous post. I really feel a change in myself. I am being drawn to a simpler life. Homeschooling my child, reducing our dependence on material things, and becoming more self sustainable. I am praying for Gods guidance in this new journey and thanking him for the blessings of a new job for my husband and an amazing place to live.
