More homeschooling with Oak Meadow and my favorite cookie recipie

This past week we completed Lesson 2 in our 5th grade Oak Meadow curriculum.
A is still loving it.
I love the options of assignments. She gets the freedom to choose what she does and I don't have to think up a ton of options. Totally a win win :)
One of her assignments for this week was to answer two of the questions listed. She had a choice of 9 questions and it gave her the option of drawing a comic for one of the responses. Perfect, right?

Choice one-
"What if you were an early native of the Caribbean who saw Columbus and his ships arriving off the coast of your home? How would these people have appeared to you? How might you have felt? Would you feel welcoming or would you be frightened? How might you and your family prepare to meet these strangers?"

As you can see, this was the one A chose to do as a comic.
She decided her family would be wary at first, but then would trade and be friendly with Columbus.

She did a creative writing assignment to answer the second question,
"What do you think we would do today if someone from another planet landed in the U.S. and claimed it as his territory because he had discovered it? How would you feel about this?"
I love her short story. She even created unique writing for the aliens :)
I hope it is clear enough of a pic that you can enjoy it as well.
We spent a lot of time last week playing in the snow and then would come in and get a little work done.
I love moments like these. Homeschooling, hot chocolate, and some of our favorite cookies.
