Nature study- birds

Nature study is one of my favorite parts of homeschooling. This year our nature focus has been on birds. I have truly learned so much. Having our bird feeders along with all our nature guides has allowed us all to become quite well versed at identifying different birds. It's fun to watch even little W recognize birds and even their calls.

Last week, we each picked a bird that we had seen that day at our feeder and researched it. Our 4 different field guides came in very handy for this.

Pulling out the colored pencils and oil pastels, we went to work focusing on one of our wood pecker friends and a cardinal.

It was the perfect relaxing afternoon.
